Important note: Universities offer summer programs to give students a university experience AND to make money. They are not designed to aid in gaining admission to specific colleges. These programs are not connected to the admissions office for this reason. Do not take a summer program just to get into university.
Sometimes families pay a lot of money for a summer program that doesn’t actually exist (scam) - it happens. Practice due diligence. Double check with your FE Counsellor.
RCHK or ESF are not responsible for the contents of any external events or sessions.
Local universities are a great option - no need to go far/ pay a lot of money. The best summer programmes are ones that push students beyond the IB curriculum and the student can write about in their university application or speak about in interview.
Other ideas for the summer: internship(s), paid work, studying for DP subjects.
Or your own idea! Be specific and intentional - choose something that moves you.
Students applying for a summer program that requires any support (transcript, reference, guiding you writing essays) give the FE Office two weeks notice before the external deadline.
Some competitive programs may close applications in November of the previous year, seven months before the summer program beginning.
You must see your counsellor to discuss the application. There are specfiic instructions for the reference and transcript.
Your FE Counsellor will support you in how to write your application materials, if any.
