On 10 September Sophie Doucette, Natalie Ko, Leanne Tse and Sunny Min had the opportunity to speak with Oliver Thomas, a third year Vet Med student at Harper & Keele Veterinary School in Newcastle.
Leanne kindly shared her reflection with us -Â
"I have learnt so much from Oliver, and the advice that he gave us has helped ease the stress I had with the whole vet application process. The experience was fantastic. Even though we were on a Zoom call, Oliver's passion and expertise really came through. I've always wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, and as a Year 13 student preparing for UCAS applications, Oliver was great at answering my questions based on his own experiences as an IB student.Â
One thing that really helped was gaining a clear understanding of the type of applicant vet schools are looking for. Additionally, he recommended learning the five freedoms and basic animal anatomy as preparation for the MMI, which has deepened my understanding and confidence for the interview. I'm really excited to take the advice and encouragement he gave us and follow in his footsteps to become a successful vet student."Â
Good luck to all of you in your pursuit of veterinary medicine! And a huge thank you to Oliver for taking the time to meet with our students.
On 16 October 56 students from Years 10, 11 and 12 students sat the PSAT in the PAC. This was our third year administering the digital version of the test, which by all accounts went very smoothly.Â
Students take the PSAT primarily to practice for the SAT, gain a preview of test-day conditions and identify areas for improvement.
The PSAT results should be available in 4 weeks, at which time we will share them with the students via email.
If you have any questions, please email careers@rchk.edu.hk.
